Yegorushkina Kateryna
Born on October 30, 1984, in the town of Brovary (Kyiv region), Kateryna Yegorushkina is a philologist and psychologist by training. She got a BA degree in Ukrainian literature and an MA in comparative studies. Completed a postgraduate program in psychology and conflict studies at the National University of Kyiv Mohyla Academy (PhD on increasing the professional self-awareness by the means of art therapy). Kateryna Yegorushkina is the author of various research articles and method guides tested at international scientific conferences.
She began writing poetry at the age of 7: it was then that Kateryna first wanted to become a writer. Her first poetry collection Pulsation of the Moment was published in 2006 with a grant support of President of Ukraine. Kateryna’s works had been published in periodicals and almanacs.
Yegorushkina is the author of 15 books (14 of them are children’s) and co-author of several collective publications. She worked with such publishing houses as Vivat, Old Lion Publishing House, Ranok, Vydavnytstvo, UGCC Ecobureau, Classica etc., developed and realized book series such as Fairytale Therapy, Musical Fairytale Therapy for Kids, Classica for Kids.
Kateryna’s works have been selected for various schoolbooks such as Reading Book for 1 and 2 Grades, Integrated Course of Ukrainian Language etc. Her books Trunk (a children’s story about the Holodomor), Christmas and My Twelve Grandmas (related to global Christmas traditions and the Ukrainian diaspora) were adapted to themed lessons. The Ukrainian Institute of National Memory and the Ukrainian Book Institute had purchased Kateryna’s books for libraries.
Her book A House Made of Water was included in the list of ten best children’s books in 2012 and went through five editions.
Her another book, Archie (An Eco Tale), was the first Ukrainian children’s book dedicated to the topic of waste sorting. Its third edition was published in the special Antidyslexia font designed purposedly for children with dyslexia and opened an entire series of such books in Ukraine.
One more Yegorushkina’s books, Tales of the Brave Little People from Nutlet Creeks, was recently translated into Lithuanian and went through three editions in a year.
In co-operation with Grani-T Publishing House, Kateryna Yegorushkina worked on a series of therapeutic books for children. She was the host of the Fairytale World show at Radio Maria and screenwriter of an animated TV series concerning mine safety for UNICEF. Kateryna produced a series of fairytale books on corporate values for a number of international companies (Epam, Luxoft, Kyivstar, Boehringer ingelheim, Bell etc..) This innovative project was awarded the Event Awards International Prize in 2016.
Kateryna Yegorushkina created such projects as the Kind Fairytale Workshop and Parcels of Kindness (a volunteering project for the children of deceased servicepeople). She entered the Green Book of Ukrainian Charity for her volunteering activity.
In 2018, Kateryna Yegorushkina spoke at the TEDxKyiv international conference on the topic of fairy tales and values of the future.
She is a permanent participant of pedagogical and psychological conferences, lecturer on valuable content of literary texts and development of the schoolchildren’s emotional intelligence by the means of fiction.

Distinctions
Kateryna Yegorushkina won a number of literary contests. She was awarded Hryhorii Chuprynka Prize for her children’s books. The manuscript of her book Birds and Angels was shortlisted for Korneychuk Prize. Her another book, Tales of the Brave Little People from Nutlet Creeks, was shortlisted for Top BaraBooka 2020, while one more book, Trunk, was also shortlisted for the All-Ukrainian Book of the Year Rating 2020. Kateryna Yegorushkina was awarded the Vyshgorod Mayor’s prize for her literary activity and promotion of children’s reading.
