Truth Hounds presented an inquiry into Russian military’s involvement in the murder of Volodymyr Vakulenko
The presentation took place on April 11 at PEN Ukraine Space
Are the Russian military involved in the murder of Ukrainian writer Volodymyr Vakulenko? What facts suggest that the Russian side was interested in him? What evidence confirms his abduction by the Russian military? What implications can this crème possibly have on both Ukrainian society and international community? These were the primary points of discussion during the presentation of the inquiry held by the Truth Hounds organization. The event took place on April 11, 2024, at PEN Ukraine Space.
During the event, head of investigations with the Truth Hounds Maryna Slobodianiuk and OSINT investigators Bohdan Kosokhatko, Roman Koval, and Vladyslav Chyryk shared important details found out during the work.
"We discovered that the Russian military are somehow involved into every stage of this crime," said Maryna Slobodianiuk, head of investigations with the Truth Hounds, in the course of the presentation. "Analyzing the facts, we have seen that the lowest-level executors came from the so-called Luhansk and Donetsk People’s Republics. It was the Russian units that played a key role in decision making in Kapytolivka. This totally fits into Russian aggressive policy when they militarize people on the occupied territories and commit crimes by their hands. Every sign of Ukrainian mindset is demonized, and this gives grounds for persecution. Russians want to commit crimes by proxy and create an illusion of their own innocence using the already widely famous ‘we-are-not-there’ approach. Our inquiry, this afterword, can make a foreword to not only further steps in the investigation but to public discussions as well. Facts and arguments we have found give solid grounds for widening the circle of those involved in the murder of Volodymyr Vakulenko by adding representatives of the Russian Federation to this list."
