This book uses letters, diaries of political prisoners, and other documentary materials collected by the human rights organization ZMINA.
The project team narrates 16 stories of politically imprisoned journalists’ life, detention, and captivity. The publications include extracts from the protagonists’ diaries, letters, and speeches in court. Authors of the texts explore their court cases and communicate with families and human rights advocates.
The special project became a result of the #SolidarityWords – a joint campaign of PEN Ukraine and
ZMINA to support politically imprisoned authors in occupied Crimea.
We need your help to create projects and materials aimed to defend freedom of speech, popularize Ukrainian culture and values of independent journalism.
Your donation means support for discussions, awards, festivals, authors’ trips to regions and PEN book publications.
