Servicewoman and journalist Alla Pushkarchuk killed in action
On April 25, servicewoman and ex-journalist of Tyzhden and Chytomo, Alla Pushkarchuk (call sign "Ruta") was killed in action
Dmytro Krapyvenko, serviceman and ex-journalist of Tyzhden, was the one who informed about her death.
"She collected folk accessories, was highly interested in cultural life, posted photos of cats who followed her everywhere. No one can replace Alla, either in military or in civilian life. It’s an irreparable loss in every sense," Dmytro remembers.
From August 2014 to April 2018, Alla worked at the 5th separate battalion of the Ukrainian Voluntary Army as a journalist and photographer, Chytomo informs. After her demobilization, she held positions as a journalist and news editor at Ukrainsky Tyzhden (Ukrainian Week) magazine from 2018 to 2020, and as a PR specialist at Komora Publishing House from 2019 to 2020.
From 2021 until the very outbreak of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, Alla worked with the team of Chytomo as a news editor and coordinator of the #EmptyChairPeople project, implemented in cooperation with PEN Ukraine.
According to the Institute of Mass Information, Alla Pushkarchuk became the 77th media worker whose life was taken by Russian aggression against Ukraine.
More information about Alla can be found in her interview within the project Words and Bullets.
